Toronto, June 27, 2008 ― The Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC) and Deloitte are pleased to announce the establishment of the first public sector leadership awards. The program recognizes organizations that demonstrate outstanding leadership by talking bold steps to improve Canada through advancements in public policy and management.

With the sector in transition, leadership of public sector organizations is a critical factor. Governments at all levels are seeking new opportunities, taking decisive action and kick-starting bold new approaches. There is growing interest in bringing senior leaders from all levels of government and the public sector community together to learn, to build networks, and to inspire each other and be inspired. The public sector leadership awards will provide such a forum and enable these leaders to hear from others outside the sector who have applied innovative and collaborative approaches to their organizational goals and objectives.

IPAC/Deloitte Public Sector Leadership Award winners will reflect the importance of innovation, strategic thinking, trust and team building, shared vision, and effective collaboration and partnerships. Selection criteria focus on projects where leadership has enabled major organizational transformation and outstanding performance.

The deadline for submissions is September 30, 2008.
